Our Trip to USK

USK is not a much known place, yet it was a wonderful trip there. It was tamil new year long weekend and we collegemates had to decide on some place where we could escape from the routine life.

After so many confusions we decided upon USK, United States of Kulasekara Pattinam. Since this place has just 4 streets and 8 houses, its named to be the USK.

Bringing to Limelight

Couple of years back, just the thought of someone else in the other part of the globe, reading your written works is just impossible for a newbie unless they create a wave of controversy. Whether it be stories/poetry/any subject, the then MSM (MainStream Media) was above the reach of average writters.

But now with the age of Blogshpere, the competetive environment is very nice to see, where many youngsters from nook and corners are able to express themselves and get a regular readers circle and hence get encouraged.

PRIYAN is one such blogmate, whose blog i had stumbled accidentaly from another friends blog. It was almost a year ago, and he had been continously posting his thoughts as Tamil Kavithai's (poems).

He has also posted a Tamil Kavithai Thodar (a Story like tamil poem in series), which brought him to the attention of many readers i guess.

Now, heard that he is putting his efforts to bringout his writeups as a Paper Book Publication, in meantime, i thought, let me do the very smallest of the help i could do, to bring him to limelight.

Here is where you can download some of his works as a Pdf. Hope our encouragements & critiscim get him fine tuned and help him achieve what he is now working towards.

A weekend with lots of learning - Part I

Aadhi, Suku and me (my collegebuddies) had decided to spend the saturday evening in a school annual day. What is so special about an annual day ?. It wasn't special about the annual day, It was special about the school whom conducted the annual day. It was "Gnana Deepam" a special school for special children, the students here are Mentally Challenged and are not from a middle class or above family , they are not from the city. These kids are from the outskirts villages.

Deciding to protest the election/the candidates

If at all you decide to Protest against the elections by avoiding to vote
If at all you get frustrated with all the candidates in your area and felt ever like registring your frustration anywhere

Please DO NOT STAY IN YOUR HOUSE/GO FOR A VACATION during the Election Dates. The below information would serve a good way to show our protest/frustration/anger or whatever you call it.

VOTING IS OUR DUTY.

Election fever is sweeping Tamil Nadu with two major electoral combines and smaller parties reeling out promises. Most parties have released their manifestos and the lists of candidates for the May 8 Assembly elections.

It is now time for the voters to weigh the merits and demerits of the candidates. Suggestions have been made to make voting compulsory.

But if the electors decide that none of the candidates is worth their vote, can they officially register their decision?
Yes, says the Election Commission.

Chief Electoral Officer Naresh Gupta said on Monday that some non-governmental organisations wanted the option of "negative voting" by providing an extra button in the electronic voting machines that says "none of the above" clause.

Though there was no scope for negative voting now, as the issue is before the Supreme Court, there were provisions for electors to register their decision not to vote.

"According to Rule 49-O of the Conduct of Election Rules, 1961, if an elector whose roll number has been entered in the register of electoral rolls in Form 17A, decides not to vote, a remark to this effect shall be made against the said entry by the Presiding Officer and the signature and thumb impression of the elector shall be obtained against such remark", he said.

Officers to be sensitised
All Returning Officers, Assistant Returning Officers, Presiding Officers and Polling Officers would be sensitised to the provisions, he said.
Catalyst Trust, an NGO, had requested the Election Commission to publicise this provision. However, adequate security would have to be provided for such brave voters, an observer said.

Dont Celebrate Womens Day

No need to Keep Women at higher position and Praise them
No need to write Poems praising Women
No need to offer them a piece of bread in name of reservation
Let not the government advertise that even a girl has the right to education
Let not the government advertise that destroying foetus in terms of gender
Let there not be a Special feature film for Womens Day
Let not gifts be spent today to get appreciation from known females
Let us not celebrate a seperate day for Women

It would be enough if we could just consider and respect women that they are just another living being as men and,
It would be enough if we could plant this into the yound minds of the new generations too..

ps:
my two cents to all expecting a "Happy Womens Day" wish from the known guys and for ppl who wish for this day...
